Dr. Xiaohui Wang is currently an associate professor at the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He was born in Henan, China in 1976. He received a B.S. in chemistry from Zhengzhou University in 1997. He obtained his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering in 2003 under Prof. Yanchun Zhou from IMR, CAS, with a focus on the synthesis, structure and properties of lay- ered machinable and electrically conductive Ti2AIC and Ti3AlC2 ceramics. He then spent almost two years for plasma processing of nanomaterials at the NIMS (Tsukuba, Japan, under Dr. Ishigaki) where he explored spherical nanosized Ti02 with tunable Fe(III) dopant concentrations, and established the relationship between the dopant concentration and photocatalytic properties under UV and/or visible irradiations.
