The activity rhythms of adult Empoascavitis Gthe was studied in tea plantations using by sticky traps.The results showed that adults preferred flying in a range of 0～40cm above the tea canopy.The number of trapped adults at the height of 40cm above the tea canopy was significantly more than at other heights（P0.01）.The number of adults trapped was not significantly different at different orientations（i.e.east,south,west and north）（P0.05）,which indicated that this pest did not have a particular orientation preference in fields.Adults were mainly active in the morning and evening,more specially,49.06%and 40.57% of adults were trapped from 5 ： 00 to 9 ： 00 and from 15 ： 00 to 19 ： 00 respectively,but inactive from 21 ： 00 to 4 ： 00 of the next day.
