Since the 1980s, studying abroad for graduate education has become a priority for many Chinese college graduates. However, the tendency of college graduates to go abroad and the choice itself is greatly influenced by institutional faetors. In different types of institutions, the proportions of college graduates studying abroad are extremely unbalanced, the higher reputation in the higher education system of colleges and universities, the higher the proportion of college graduates abroad. Furthermore, the proportion of college graduates in universities focus on finance and foreign languages who go abroad is high, while the corresponding proportion of medical colleges and universities is relatively low. There are regional effects and the proportion of undergraduates in the eastern region is significantly higher than that in other regions. At the same time, the proportion of college graduates studying abroad and the per capita disposable income of that region were positively correlated.
