Several polycrystalline bismuth titanate Bi4Ti3O12(BTO) ceramic samples with different degrees of grain orientation (I) were prepared using the solid state reaction. Under the identical temperature, when the sintering time (2-20 h) increases, the I ingreases initially and reaches its maximum value of 89.9% then decreases. The ferro-and piezoelectric properties are dependent on the L The two times of remanent polarization intensity (Pr) and piezoelectric coefficient (d33) of a/(b)-orientation predominant BTO sampies increases with the increase of/and the maximum values are 53.4 μC/cm^2 and 22.2 pC/N, respectively, while the 2Pr and d33 decreases with the increase of/in c-orientation predominant ones.
