Abstract Temperature-sensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) gel is a kind of soft & wet materials with broad application prospect. But this kind of gel presents following disadvantages, such as single function, slow response rate, wide particle size distribution, poor mechanical property and so on. Therefore, the chemical and physical modification of the gels has become main research contents. The latest researches upon temperature-sensitive gels modified by hydrophilic/hydrophobic monomer over the past five year were reviewed.
