The relationship between methylene blue MB value and clay content of manufactured sand were studied,and the effect of the two as-pects on drying shrinkage of mortar were discussed by using hyperbolic function.Results showed that,MB value had a linear correlation with the clay content of the manufactured sand,and the slope of straight line was controlled by the liquid limit index of clay powder;the drying shrinkage of mortar increased and the shrinkage process developed faster,with MB value and clay content of manufactured sand increased,and the final dry-ing shrinkage value of mortar could be assessed and predicted by MB value better.
