Koiter＇s theory was a milestone in the history of study on the structural buckling analysis, whose ideas on buckling analysis are still regarded as classical ones. Thus, it is essential to comprehend contents of koiter＇s theory and its instructional effects to structural buckling analysis and also understand its limitation. The authors introduce and expound researches of Koiter＇s theory in this paper.
