To investigate the spatial distribution characteristics of calcium in forest soil and plant, this paper selected three kinds of typical tree species (Chinese pine, mongolian pine and oak tree) as study objects. And then based on the systematic field investigation and the acquisition and test of soils and leaves (needle), this paper studied the distribution characteristics of soil water-soluble calcium and total calcium content of plant leaf in an east-west direction as well as the correlation between soil and plant leaves. The results showed that the difference in soil water-soluble calcium content between eastern Liaoning and western Liaoning was significant, and the content of soil water-soluble calcium in soil surface and sub-surface was 0.037 - 0.072 rag g-l, 0.047 - 0.078 mg g-1, respectively, in western Liaoning. The contents of soil water-soluble calcium in soil surface and sub-surface were 0.025 - 0.039 mg g-1 and 0.019 - 0.038 mg g-1, respectively, in eastern Liaoning. Accordingly, the total content of calcium in plant leaves also had a great difference, and the ranges in western Liaoning and eastern Liaoning were 4.663 - 10.156 mg g-1 and 2.436 - 2.700 mg g-1, respectively. The contents of water-soluble calcium in forest soil and plant leaves in western Liaoning were higher than those in eastern Liaoning, and showed downward trends from western Liaoning to eastern Liaoning, which was associated with the increased rainfall. The total calcium contents of forest plant leaf and soil water-soluble calcium content for three kinds of trees were positively correlated (Chinese pine P 〈 0.05, mongolian pine and oak tree P 〈 0.01)
