With the rapid development of infrared （IR） detection and guidance technologies, the threat faced by surface warships will be more and more serious. In this paper, the principle of the IR stealthy technique is summarized, the current status of the IR stealthy techniques for surface warships is analyzed and some measures taken in the IR stealthy techniques for surface warships are presented. Finally, the trend of the IR stealthy techniques for surface warships is predicted.
