INTRODUCTION Currently, the recommended therapy to control refractory status epilepticus (RSE) is intravenous (Ⅳ) anesthetics, such as midazolam, propofol, barbiturates, and so on.However,15%-26% of RSE cases still cannot be terminated.Three case series studies have demonstrated that the combination of Ⅳ anesthetics and moderate (30-31 ℃) or mild (31-35℃)hypothermia successfully terminated the seizures in RSE patients.
