Basis on the brief introduction of wireless mesh networks, a survey of recent research on key technologies of routing protocol are presented, which focus on the design of wireless mesh network oriented routing metrics, adaptive channel assignment schema for multi-radio multi-channel environment and routing algorithm combining broadcasting characteristic of wireless media. Impact on the net-work performance of those factors is discussed amply and a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of recent research is given. Furthermore, the design of cross-layer protocol is described in detail due to the fallibility of wireless links.
