Two donor(D)-acceptor(A)-based polyfluorene derivatives (P1 and P2 ), which contain carrier- transporting units of carbazole, oxadiazole and the red-emitting iridium bi( phenyliso- quilonato) (picolinato) unit as the substitutes of the C-9 position of fuorene by unconjugated linkage were synthesized and charac- terized. Their opto-electronic properties were significantly influenced by the end-capping groups, the P~ end- capped with the oxadiazole unit exhibit significantly decreased excimer emission. In the polymer light-emit- ting devices with a configuration of ITO/PEDOT/polymers/LiF/A1, the P1 showed best electroluminescent properties than the Pz. The maximum current efficiency of 0.54 cd/A was obtained in the Pl-based device, which are 1.42 times higher than that in the P2-based device. Our work indicated that end-capping manners can improve EL properties of 2,7-polyfluorene derivatives.
