The rapid development of mobile communication technology has provided new research ideas and methods for urban research, the application of mobile communication positioning data to urban traffic and residents＇ activities has also become a hotspot, therefore, studying its domestic and foreign research progress and trend is necessary.Based on introducing the mobile communication positioning technology,this article summarized and analyzed the related references in the past ten years from the aspects of urban traffic and residents ＇travel, urban residents＇ activity mode and trajectories, and finally, it summarized and compared the application of mobile communication positioning data to the study content of urban traffic and resident activity mode, and proposed the future research direction and field.
