英文摘要：
The characteristics of municipal sewage sludge disposal were analyzed through a reviewing of the current situation and development trend of sludge land use in China and abroad,highlighting the methods,benefits and risks of land use.It was considered that physical and chemical properties would be improved after the sewage sludge was applied into the soil,especially in northwest loess areas of China,and sludge could be used in soil improvement,forest green and damaged soil remediation,but attention should be paid to the environmental risks from heavy metals,persistent organic pollutants,pathogens and other substances which are toxic and hazardous at the same time.It is useful to improve the relevant laws,regulations and technical standards,establishing a complete ＂application,management,monitoring and control＂ system to prevent the environmental problems from sludge land use,and providing a scientific basis for municipal sewage sludge land use in northwest loess areas of China.
