Polycrystalline samples of Li, Nay CoO2 with an intergrowth structure have been successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction. The measured thermopower of Lix Nay CoO2at room temperature is about 60 μV/K higher than that of Nax CoO2. Based upon the O2p characteristic for the mobile carriers, the origin of the increment in thermopower is interpreted in terms of the occupancy entropy of the O2p holes.
