英文摘要：

This paper aims to measure national happiness with the national happiness index and find the main factors that impact happiness. Based on population quality life index, social equity index, social progress index, social satisfaction index and environmental satisfaction index, a measurement for the national happiness index was constructed to calculate the national happiness indexes of Chinese urban residents, Chinese rural residents and all the Chinese in 1991-- 2012. The results showed that Chinese people＇s happiness has not simultaneously increased with income increase, and the most important factor impacting national happiness is the gap between the rich and the poor.
