Renin inhibitor,inhibiting the ratelimiting enzyme of the first step in renin-angiotensin system（ RAS）,plays a key role in regulating RAS activity. Aliskiren,as the first approved renin inhibitor for clinical application,is currently and widely used in the treatment of hypertension. Here we reviewed the research progress of the beneficial effects of aliskiren on cardiovascular,renal and hepatic diseases except its anti-hypertensive action.
