Tests on bentonite from Tiandong, Guangxi were conducted by the wet purification process and influence factors such as type and dosage of dispersants, liquid-solid ratio, dis- persion conditions on the purification effect was investigated. The results indicate that the optimum conditions for purification are the dosage of dispersant of sodium hexametaphosphate being 10%, the liquid-solid ratio 10 ： 1, the temperature of slurry 60 ℃,the speed of stirring 500 r/min and the time of stirring 60 minutes, the colloid index of purified product 88.6 mL/15 g, the expansion capacity 90. 5 mL/g, the cation exchange capacity （CEC） 95.8 retool/100 g and the increase of content of montmorillonite to 97% from 70%.
