The crystal structure at room temperature was determined. The crystal is triclinic with space group P21 / c, a = 0.627 5 (1) nm, b = 1.7438(3) nm, c = 2.2839(3) nm, α= 90°, β = 91.87(1)°, γ = 90°, V = 2.497(7) nm^3, Z = 4, Mr= 700. 57, and Dc = 1.863 g·cm^-3. The planar [Ni(dmit)2 ] is nearly perfect, which shows that it has good conjugate characteristic and is a 1-D magnetic chain compound.
