Assembly of copper( Ⅱ ) chloride with fluconazole (HFlu) in the presence of tricyanomethanide (tcm, C(CN)3^-) anion under general conditions in water/methanol media affords a metal-organic coordination polymer {[-Cu(HFlu)2Cl2](H2O)4 ).(1). It crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a=2. 343 1 (8) nm, b=0. 945 6(3) nm, c= 1. 984(1) nm, β=123. 444(4)°, W=3. 668(3) nm^3 , and Z=4. Each Cu^Ⅱ center is coordinated to four triazole nitrogen atoms from distinct HFlu ligands and a pair of chloride anions, taking an octahedral geometry with typical Jahn-Teller distortion. The fluconazole molecules connect the adjacent Cun ions to generate an undulated layered coordination framework. Hydrogen bonding interactions are also observed between the host framework and the included water guests to further sustain the whole crystalline lattice.
