Gle1,the first cytosolic protein identified with an nuclear export sequence（NES）,is a ubiquitous mRNA export factor in the eukaryotic cells.Recent studies have showed that besides functioning in the process of mRNA exportation from the nucleus to the cytoplasm,Gle1 also plays a vital role in protein translation.The research progress of Gle1 was summarized in this paper.
