The safe treatment of the radioactive wastes fects the development and utilization of nuclear energy. This is one of the major concerns in the world, and it also af paper reviews the characteristics and mechanism of mi crowave heating technology, and introduces the application of microwave technology in low and intermediate level ra- dioactive waste disposal. Meanwhile, the research progress of microwave technology in HLW glass and synrock im- mobilization processing field is introduced specifically. Finally, the suggestions and research trend of microwave tech- nology in high level radioactive waste disposal are also put forward.
