Zhang Boju is one of the generation of versatile wit. He, together with Zhang Xueliang, YuanKeding, Pu Dong, enjoy the reputation of the＂four childe of the Republic of China＂. He was born in an officialfamily, however, his life is bittersweet, ill-fated. He has a relation with Yuan Shikai. He was proud of beingborn in the same town as Xiang Yu, and he even had a seal carved＂zhong tong＂. He came to the northeast at hismiddle age and later returned to Beijing. Zhang Boju is elegant and loves traditional art. He has different de-grees of attainments and influence in poems, appreciating, calligraphy, painting and drama.
