The economic and environmental protection method for the construction of expansive soil embankment is an advanced construction method of filling expansive soil in the core of embankment and non-expansive soil at two sides. In order to obtain the construction parameters and experience about this method, some testing and researches, such as tests on fillings, construction consequence, control index and test evaluation method, are carried out during the construction of Nanning Outer Ring Highway. The construction parameters of coefficient of loose paving material and number of compactor pass for expansive soil filling, etc. , are determined. The optimum construction steps and method are proposed. Finally, the rational and economic construction filling techniques are concluded.
