英文摘要：

Focusing on the period from 1995 to 2010, using urban non-agricultural population data, this paper examines the dynamic evolution of the city-size distribution in the Yangtze River Delta region. The urban evolution- ary trend is examined with the Pareto law. The results suggest that, the Pareto law regression fits city-size distribu- tion of the Yangtze River Delta throughout this period. A tendency of concentration around the mean size dominated the first five years, with small cities tending to move up in the size distribution, so cities became more evenly dis- tributed ; while the next ten years, large cities started to expand rapidly, resulting in a polarization in the city - size distribution.
