The low-temperature selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of NOx is a promising technology for removing NOx from flue gases. Based on a comprehensive literature review, the paper summarizes the various deactivation mechanisms of low-temperature SCR catalysts due to water vapor and sulfur dioxide, the procedures and methods of catalyst preparation, the selection of the catalyst carrier, and the effects of catalyst's active ingredients on its tolerance to water vapor and sulfur dioxide. Additional research in those important areas will benefit the development of more cost effective H2O and SO2 resistant low-temperature SCR catalysts.
