The amino-terminated poly（ethylene glycol） （1） was obtained from polyethylene glycol 2000 by chlorination, azidation and catalytic hydrogenation with an overall yield of 57 %. The title compound was purified using cation exchange resin with gradient eluent of acetate buffer solution （pH 5.7） of different concentrations. The structure of pure product was characterized by IR, ^1HNMR and HPLC. The relative molecular weight of 1 was determined by size-exclusion chromatography.
