The calorific values of the two typical coal samples（XJ coal and QJY coal） were measured by oxygen bomb method.The combustion heat release characteristics of these two coal samples were studied by thermogravimetric analysis.Heat release rates of two samples were calculated and compared.XJ coal can release more amounts of heat at low temperature at a relatively short duration, while QJY coal can release heat at a relatively longer duration at high temperature level.
