SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool) is a physically based distributed hydrological and ecological assessment model. It was developed to simulate and predict the water condition, sediment and agricultural chemical yields in large complex watersheds successively under different soils, land use and management conditions over long periods of time. The development Process, modeling principles, module functions of SWAT were briefly introduced, and the applications of the model in irrigation district for water resources management, land management evaluation and non-point source pollution control were demonstrated in this paper.
