Firstly, the deveopment history of modular reconfigurable robot in the past two decades was reviewed. The modular reconfigurable robot concept, characteristics, classifying method, the main research content and the latest study status were also introduced. Then technology performances of our country in modular reconfigurable were summarized. In the last section, key technology and challenges of future development were forecasted, which may provide a direction of modular reconfigurable robot for future development.
