Maoping tungsten deposit is a large W-Sn-polymetallic deposit in southern Jiangxi Province. By means of microscope, SEM/EDS and EPMA , the authors studied the occurrence and chemical composi- tions of micas in the Maoping pegmatite type tungsten deposit of southern Jiangxi. The result showed that all the micas are characterized by rich AI, K and Li and the volatile constituent F, poor Mn, Ta,Mg and Ca. Micas associated with the pegmatite type tungsten deposit are highly variable. The component of micas changed in the evolution sequence of "Li phengite → zinnwaldite". Micas in pegmatite rocks have experi- enced magma hydrothermal transition. Due to the fluid metasornatism, the zoning micas are ubiquitous in the Maoping pegmatite. Micas in the pegmatite are characterized by rich F, showing that the content of F is very high in the system. With the evolution of magma, fluorine is strongly incorporated into late-differ- entiated melts, which is conducive to the highly evolved magma and rare metal enrichment.
