Gastroesophageal varices（GEV） is one of the most serious and common complications of portal hypertension. Varicose veins are at risk of rupture, and esophagogastric variceal bleeding proceeds rapidly, with a high rate of fatality. Recently, noninvasive diagnostic method has developed rapidly and the diagnostic advances of GEV are reviewed in this paper.
