It was summarized recent advances in the biological functions and action mechanisms of eukaryotic translation elongation factor ( eEF1 A ) including mediating the proteolysis of damaged or misfolded proteins, regulating the organization of actin and microtubule cytoskeleton, regulating of apoptosis, mediating the nucle-ar export of aa-tRNAs, and interacting with the viral genome and RdRPs during viral propagation. The signifi-cance and value of the study of eEF1 A were pointed out and new insights and perspectives were predicted.
