Tetracyclines are broad spectrum antibiotics which can inhibit protein synthesis and are widely used against various bacterial infections. The extensive use of tetracyclines in animals and humans resulted in the emergence of widespread bacteria resistance which limited its application.So the further research to improve its properties is necessary.This article summarized the mechanism of antibacterial activity and bacterial drug resistance,structural modification and the structure-activity relationship,and the latest research progress on inhibiting tetracyclines resistant strains.
