In this paper,the effects of alkaline pretreatment on alkaline pulping of southern pine were investigated.The results showed that alkaline pretreatment could increase the lignin solubility and solid content of black liquor,improve action efficiency of effective alkali.The content of methanol in black liquor after alkaline pretreatment was lower than that of corresponding control alkaline pulping.The investigation showed that the pulping performance of southern pine wood chip was improved by alkaline pretreatment.Alkaline pretreatment could improve pulp yield,reduce Kappa number of pulp,and increase pulp brightness and strength.
