In China, among all kinds of libraries, public libraries are the most widely distributed with the largest number. Due to unbalanced economic development and the mutual restrictions among regions, automation construction in public libraries can＇t achieve a consistent level. The key to library automation construction is to choose the right automation integrated system. The paper makes a research on automation integrated systems adopted by 34 provincial public libraries in China, makes a comparative analysis of automation integration systems used by domestic and foreign libraries, sums up some factors which must be considered by Chinese provincial libraries when selecting the automation integrated system, and puts forward some suggestions about how to improve next generation of the system.
