This paper aims to assess the effects of economic globalization on the structural changes of residential consumption in OECD countries. The (QUAIDS) model and structural panel model are applied countries based on the historical statistical data series from Quadratic Almost Ideal Demand System to residential consumptions in 22 OECD 1985 to 2005. The findings of this paper precisely test four major hypotheses : ( 1 ) the structural changes of residential consumption in the selected OECD countries presented transition trend from tradable goods to non -tradable goods; (2) The economic globalization stimulates such transition trend, wherein the foreign trade played more dominant roles compared with that of foreign direct investment (FDI) ; (3) The tradable goods are more sensitive to be affected by economic globalization comparing with non - tradable goods, wherein food is the most sensitive one among other tradable goods and medical care is the most insensitive one among other non - tradable goods ; (d) There are significant differences to the effects of econom- ic globalization on the structural changes the countries with larger economic scale of residential consumption in different OECD countries, and usually have more significant effects.
