The three-dimensional numerical simulation of air flows in an intake port of a practical fourvalve gasoline engine was performed with CFD software. The simulated flow field provided a detailed insight into the processes governing three-dimensional air flow under port steady flow test conditions. The apparent tumble motion formed in the cylinder. The calculation results of port flow performance were in good agreement with its test results, and could be applied to providing theoretical directions for the engine port design.
