在理论分析城镇化对旅游经济影响的空间效应基础上,利用2000—2013年的省级面板数据和空间面板计量模型,实证探讨了城镇化规模和质量对旅游经济影响的直接效应与空间溢出效应。研究显示:(1)城镇化规模、城镇化质量和旅游经济发展都具有明显的空间依赖性和空间集聚特征,传统面板数据模型因忽略了被解释变量和解释变量的空间溢出效应而高估了城镇化对旅游经济发展的产出弹性;(2)城镇化规模和城镇化质量均对旅游经济发展具有明显的促进作用和正向的空间溢出效应,表明旅游经济发展不仅受到本地区城镇化的影响,也会受到邻近地区城镇化进程的交互作用;(3)在城镇化进程中,产业结构转变、旅游企业物质资本与劳动力投入、旅游消费水平等多维要素都是推动旅游经济发展的重要力量,旅游企业物质资本和旅游消费水平还具有显著的正向溢出效应,而旅游企业劳动力投入有明显的负外溢效应。
After decades of development, China's urban population has exceeded 50%, indicating that China has entered a stage of rapid urban expansion. Theory and practice show that urbanization is the core driver of China's economic growth. Along with the growth of China's urban areas, changes have taken place in the tourism industry. Tourism has grown from both a production and consumption aspect as a result of the transformation of the structure of the tourism industry, the spillover of tourism knowledge and the spread of tourist networks. Urbanization has an important effect on the development of the regional tourism economy. In this paper, we developed a model of the direct and spillover effects of urbanization on growth in the regional tourism industry. The model accounts for the synergies between multiple factors during the urbanization process in China and their effects on the development of regional tourism. Using provincial panel data from 2000 to 2013 and employing a spatial panel econometric model, we analyzed the spatial effects of urbanization on the expansion of the tourist industry.The following results were obtained:(1) The annual Moran Index indicated that the regional tourism industry and urbanization showed a significant spatial correlation and spatial agglomeration.Running the model without taking spatial dependence into account may affect the reliability of the results. It was confirmed that the output of the traditional panel regression model overestimated the effect size when spatial dependency was neglected.(2) The total output elasticity of China's urbanization rate and urbanization quality for economic growth in the regional tourism industry was0.401 and 0.665, respectively, indicating the importance of urbanization in the expansion of the regional tourism industry in China.
