Using data from a 2009 census of rural migrants in X City, Fujian province, we analyze the gender difference of the new generation rural migrant workers in the political expression willingness and affecting factors. The research shows that that the political expression willingness of the new - generation rural migrant workers is higher than the first generation rural migrant workers, and that for the females is higher than the males. The socioeconomic position, social capital and sociocuhural experience affect to a certain degree the political expression willingness of the new generation rural migrant workers. It is harder for the male migrant worker with senior middle school education background to possess the political expression willingness. The labor contract contributes to the forming of their political participation willing- ness. The barrier to the formation of the political expression willingness stems from the increase in urban experience. The expansion of the scale of the social network and citizens network may effectively boost the political expression willingness of the female rural migrant workers.
