Swertia mussotii Franch, a cold and cool Tibetan medicine with unique curative effect in treating hepatic and gall diseases, has become a research hotspot at present. This paper analyzed, generalized and summarized the researches on the biological characteristics, resources distribution, tissue culture, molecular biology, and introduction and cultivation of Swertia mussotii Franch through consulting literatures about Swertia mussotii Franch in recent 20 years, in order to provide a scientific reference for the protection and sustainable development of Swertia mussotii Franch, and played an active role in protecting biodiversity and ecological diversity.
