科学图形面积比例(FGA)方法,采用科学图形面积占整个文章页面面积的比例作为定量指标,是科学图形计量研究的重要方法之一。本文运用FGA方法进行材料科学与工程学科发展研究,通过对选取的10种期刊进行FGA测量,获得FGA值随时间变化的趋势,并对数据进行整理、分析,以考察材料科学与工程学科的整体发展趋势。研究认为,从20世纪50年代到60年代中后期,材料科学与工程得到了迅速的发展,在经历一个振荡期之后,20世纪末又出现了新的增长势头。我国虽然在材料科学与工程总体发展水平上相对落后于其它发达国家,但是在增长速度上却远远领先。各分支学科发展逐渐平衡,相互交叉、相互融合的趋势明显。
The method of Fractional Graph Area(FGA) ,which is one of the important methods for the graph scientometrics,uses the proportion of the scientific graph area occupying the entire article area as a quantify index. The FGA method is applied as the research on the discipline development of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE). Having ten journals measured, the original data are acquired, the tendency which the FGA changes over time is obtained, and the data is collected and analyzed by means of various statistical methods. Using quantitative and qualitative methods to study trends in the development of MSE, it is indicated that from the 1950s to the late of 1960s, the MSE got a rapid development. After going through a period of oscillation and development, the MSE gains a new growth tendency since the end of the 20th century. Through analyzing the development of MSE among China and abroad, although the development level in MSE of China is relatively behind other developed countries, but the growth rate is far exceeded. By analyzing the development of the various branches of MSE, it is found that the various branches of MSE are developed with more balance pattern, and they will become more intersection and integration.
