Cardiovascular disease is the major disease threatening human health. Atherosclemsis（AS） is the important pathological basis of cardiovascular disease and the fundamental measures to prevent cardiovas- cular disease. AS is a chronic pathological process featured with lipid metabolism disorder, vascular endotheli- al eelldamage,inflammatory cell infiltration, plaque rapture and thrombosis. Gene therapy is currently explo- ring new ways of treatment for AS, but still largely in the stage of animal experiments. How to use gene thera- py to treat AS effectively has become a hot research spot in recent years. Here is to make a review on the con- tent and progress of gene therapy for AS.
