Periodontitis often results in massive bone destruction and shows increased incidences especially in elderly population. As one of the highly-expressed inflammatory mediators,tumor necrosis factor-alpha（ TNF-α）,together with a certain group of microRNAs（ miRNAs）,has recently been shown to play important roles in regulating osteogenic differentiation in inflammatory microenvironment.This paper reviews the progresses in the regulatory effects of microRNA and TNF-α on osteogenic differentiation.
