英文摘要：

We present a new product configuration approach which has the characteristics of logical description, efficient configuration of product and easy integration with PDM （ Product Data Management）. The relation between product configuration design and bill of material （BOM） is analyzed; the concept of abstract material is introduced; a new configuration material model of product is proposed; and the configuration structure based on configuration material and described in BOM is designed. Based on the configuration model and structure, a process to generate a configuration based on knowledge is illustrated. Applications show that this approach can realize reasonable description of the confignaration model, quick solution of the configuation process, and seamless integration of the system.
