This paper proposes a novel design of Herriott type cell, which consists of a plane reflector and two semi-circular concave mirrors. It is with the longer equivalent optical path and easily controlled. We calculate the stability of the system using the ABCD matrix transformation method, and discuss the relationship between the beam diameter, rotation angle lens size with the adjustment and effective optical path of the system. As an example, this article gives the necessary conditions and results, which can achieve 144 m effective optical by employing the improved Herriott cell of 0.6 m distance.
