From September to October, 2008, we measured the field active body temperatures, the selected body temperatures (Tsel ), the critical thermal minimum (CTMin ) and the critical thermal maximum (CTMax ) , the die1 variation in body temperature, the relationship between the body temperatures (in resting) and the ambient temperatures of Acanthosaura lepigaster in Luokeng Nature Reserve of Guangdong Province. Results showed that in the wild, the active body temperature ( Tb ) of Acanthosaura lepidogaster was higher than substrate temperature ( T ) and air temperature ( Ta ) and positively related with the latter two ( Tb = 2. 938 + 0. 994T, r2= 0. 926, F1.60 = 751.66, P 〈 0. 0001 ; Tb = 2. 045 + 0. 955Ta, r2 = 0. 897, F1,60 = 523.39, P 〈 0. 0001 ). The active body temperature of wild lizard showed monthly difference, and no difference was observed among ages. When temperature of laboratory ranged from 9℃ to 35℃, the body temperature of resting (Tb ) was positively correlated with the environment temperature (T,) : Tb = 2. 5446 + 0. 8881Te (F1.73 = 156.34, r2 = 0. 990, P 〈 0. 001 ). In the environment without thermal gradients, Tb was significantly higher than Ta and Ts (P 〈 0.05 ) , and positively related with the latter two (Tb = 8. 060 + 0. 683T, r2 = 0. 313, F1,70 = 31.86, P 〈 0. 0001 ; Tb = 9. 101 + 0.614Ts, rz =0.258, F1.70 =24. 341, P 〈0. 0001). Tsel, CTMIn and CTMox ofA. lepidogaster were 29.51℃ +0.31℃, 6.33℃ + 0.26℃ and 40.40℃ ± 0.69℃, respectively. Further analysis indicated that A. lepidogaster had both physiological and behavioral thermoregulation. However, the physiological thermoregulation was weaker than that of other lizard species, which might be accorded with its rapid locomotion.
