Under the background in the arising of data science, it is pointed out that data science links with information science in both theoretical logic and technical methods. While it is qualitatively interpreted that data belong to the concept chain data-information-knowledge-intelligence, it is quantitatively derived that Brookes equation K = Ko ＋ AK and logically concluded that knowledge is logarithm of logarithm of data. Meanwhile, it is revealed that data science maintains the basic principles of information science. The unification of data science and information science is suggested via three ＇trinities＇ of data-information-knowledge, computer technology-mathematical methods-domain knowledge and people -technologies -data.
