To study characteristics of the development of spleen and stomach theory in the pre-Qin period to Tang and Song dynasties.The innovation and the characteristics of the development of spleen and stomach theory in personal opinions were summarized by looking up the spleen and stomach theory literatures during pre-Qin to Tang and Song dynasties.Spleen and stomach theory originated in the pre-Qin period,and the theory about physiological functions,disease characteristics and medical treatment of spleen and stomach diseases was gradually formed during the pre-Qin period to Tang and Song dynasties.Spleen and stomach theory had been developed from theoretical achievements to clinical diagnosis and treatment gradually,and starting further research on clinical specialty,and establishing the foundation for the following development of spleen and stomach theory and clinical practice.
