The metal nanostructures can be prepared in controllable shapes to tailor their surface plasmon resonances by using different chemical methods. It is also reviewed that the surface plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles have potential applications, including enhancement of electromagnetic fields, optical imaging, and colorimetric sensing.
